These cities are filled with history, culture, art and romance, waiting to be discovered. Your vacation begins with an overnight flight. Day 2 Arrive Rome - Tour Begins Your tour begins in Rome, “the Eternal City.” Day 3 Rome Enjoy a tour of Classical Rome visiting the Piazza Venezia, the Roman Forum, the Circus Maximus, the Colosseum and the Arch of Constantine. Contemporary highlights are also featured, including the legendary and beautiful Trevi Fountain. This afternoon you are free to continue exploring Rome on your own. Day 4 Rome Enjoy a full day at leisure to pursue your own pleasures in Rome. A local expert provides a leisurely-paced walking tour featuring the Piazza Del Duomo, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore and the Baptistry. You also view the Palazzo Vecchio and the Church of Santa Croce, burial place of Michelangelo and Galileo. Sightseeing in Rome features a visit to the Colosseum as well as the Forum, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. Visit the religious city of Assisi and ponder the spiritual meaning of the holidays during a guided tour of the Basilica of St. Francis. A walking tour of Florence features the city's artistic and architectural gems, including the Piazza del Duomo, the Palazzo Vecchio and the Church of Santa Croce. Dine in true Italian-style with wine included at every dinner! Free time in each city provides ample time to shop or further explore the cultural offerings of Rome and Florence. Language Discovery: Your Tour Manager will help you discover the origin and history of the language you will experience on your tour. Days of features are interchangeable. Uffizi Museum is closed Mondays. Single accommodations are limited and are available on a first come, first served basis. On day 8, due to flight schedules, you may be required to depart the hotel in the wee hours of the morning (between 2 & 3 AM). Travel time from Florence to Rome airport is approximately 4 hours. Return flights should not be scheduled prior to 11:00 AM. Itineraries include many activities and may consist of walking on uneven terrain, heavy walking on uneven terrain or heavy walking at times. Some of the most unique sightseeing can mean accessing locations that restrict motor coaches, especially in historic areas. For your comfort, we recommend bringing walking shoes. Air passengers will depart from the Rome airport. All transfers from the tour operator will depart from Florence for the Rome airport. |
