About This Tour

Tucked between rolling hills, rugged mountains, and spectacular Atlantic coastline, the back roads of our New England journey wind through Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. Your first stop, historic Boston includes Revolutionary War landmarks such as the Old North Church and Old South Meeting House along with the Public Gardens, Faneuil Hall marketplace, and Beacon Hill. Vermont highlights include Robert Frost's gravesite in the village of Bennington; the chance to learn about maple syrup and textile production and other farm ways on a working farm; time to explore the vast collection of fine, decorative and folk art at the highly regarded Shelburne Museum complex; and cruise on Lake Champlain. Learn the art of cider making at a cider mill and tour the Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory in Burlington, before making a short visit to Stowe for some shopping. From your base in Lincoln, New Hampshire, enjoy a full day tour of the majestic natural beauty of this area. Travel across the scenic Kangamangus Highway to North Conway where you can shop in the many outlet stores. Along the rugged Maine coast, you'll visit beautiful Boothbay Harbor, drive along Ocean Point Road and have a traditional New England lobster dinner. En route to Boston, you'll travel along Ocean Drive through the seaside community of Kennebunkport – the summer presidential retreat of the elder President George Bush.

Day 1
Boston, Massachusetts - Tour Begins
Your tour begins today in Boston, home of the famed Freedom Trail. This historical city is filled with must sees such as the lively marketplace in Faneuil Hall or the red-brick townhouses, quaint boutiques, outdoor cafés and art galleries found along Newbury Street. Tonight, enjoy a special welcome dinner, a typical New England lobster dinner.

Day 2
Boston - Portland, Maine - Freeport - Boston
Today’s travels take you to Maine. Upon arrival in Portland – the city nestled between Maine''s forest-covered mountains and spectacular rugged coast – enjoy a city tour that includes Portland Head Lighthouse, the popular landmark which first shone its light in 1791. The world-famous poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was said to be inspired at the sight of this graceful, stately lighthouse. Later, make a stop in Freeport, the home of L.L. Bean, before returning to Boston for the evening. Tonight enjoy an elegant evening of dining and dancing to live music…all while passing by unmatched views of historic Boston aboard a harbor cruise.

Day 3
Boston
Begin your day with a journey like you’ve never experienced before. Drive by all the places that make Boston so special, from the golden-domed State House, Bunker Hill, Boston Common, fashionable Newbury Street and Prudential Tower. And just when you think you’ve seen it all, there’s more. Your DUCK splashes into the Charles River for a breathtaking view of the Boston and Cambridge skylines, the kind of view you just won’t get anywhere else. Next, enjoy a visit to the home of the Boston Red Sox, Fenway Park, featuring the famous “Green Monster” with a manually operated scoreboard that is still in use today. Enjoy some free time in Faneuil Hall before traveling to Cape Cod. Let the clickety-clack of the train take you back on an enchanting fine-dining experience. The elegant dinner train crosses the historic Cape Cod Canal railroad bridge (the longest railroad lift bridge in the world at the time it was built) and enters the Cape Cod village of Buzzards Bay.

Day 4
Boston – Pawtucket - Mystic, CT - Providence
This morning offers the unique experience of touring the home office of Collette Vacations. Then, depart for Mystic, CT. Here you will have time for lunch on your own and exploration of Old Mystic Village. Step back into 18th century New England as you experience Early American charm and beauty in this quaint shopping village. Later, visit Mystic Seaport''s museum, the nation''s leading maritime museum. Explore American maritime history firsthand as you climb aboard historic tall ships, stroll through a recreated 19th century coastal village, and watch the working preservation shipyard in action. Tonight is very special offering an exclusive opportunity to dine with Dan Sullivan, the President and CEO of Collette Vacations, and his wife Kathy at their home.

Day 5
Providence - Newport, Rhode Island - Providence
Today, travel to Newport and drive along scenic Ocean Drive on your way to Bellevue Avenue, a beautiful street lined with historic mansions representative of America''s Gilded Age and its socially and financially preeminent families. In the mid-1800s, Newport’s famous mansions began sprouting up and at the time were called “summer cottages.” Now, 7 out of the 11 mansions have been designated National Historic Landmarks. Today you will have the opportunity to tour the majestic Belcourt Castle. Furnished with antique collections and art treasures from 37 Newport mansions and 33 countries, Belcourt Castle casts a spell on those who experience its charming atmosphere and deep history. Feast on a delicious farewell dinner at America’s oldest tavern, The White Horse Tavern, constructed in 1673. End your day in the historical city of Providence.
